Pink candy floss

In praise of unrequited love and loss

we went to the fair last time in July

sickeningly sweet like pink candy floss;

eager eyes devoured cherry lip gloss I

mistook hunger for appetite realized

in praise of unrequited love and loss;

she left me eating candied apricots

as I lost her at the carnival ride

sickeningly sweet like pink candy floss;

I searched carousels sucking lollipops

humming apricot dripping on my thighs

in praise of unrequited love and loss;

a butterfly drowned in the sticky sauce

my syrupy thighs stank of saccharine

sickeningly sweet like pink candy floss;

I watched her turn right behind the ring toss

my honey brined tongue whispered a goodbye

in praise of unrequited love and loss

sickeningly sweet like pink candy floss.
